Our Curriculum

We believe in providing a holistic learning and development environment for differently-abled children. Through a combination of classroom training, dance and drama therapy, occupational therapy, field excursions and other extra-curricular activities, Garia Sathi has been grooming its students to be self-sufficient and independent.

A strong in-house team of special educators, audiologists, speech therapists, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists help provide a conducive mental, sensory and social development environment, keeping in mind the learning pace and abilities of each special student.

Special Education

Our special education program covers basic academics (pre-primary and primary education) and life skills training. The special educators, audiologists, and speech therapists work with the students to develop functional literacy and communication skills to enable transition into formal mainstream education in future.

The academic program is delivered through story-telling, visual depictions, modelling and others.

The life skills training is personalised after assessing the child’s functioning levels and abilities. These programs help students develop cognition, speech and language, fine motor, vision and self help skills.

Dance and Drama Therapy

Yoga, dance, art, sports, music and drama classes are integral to our curriculum. While these co-curricular activities help the students express their hidden talent, we have found that these to be highly effective in stimulating their mind and senses – key to enhancing their social interaction and communication abilities.

We also encourage the students to showcase their talent through various platforms – both in-house as well as external. These include annual day, annual sports day, art and crafts exhibition, road shows, inter-school programs and others.

Skills-based Training

A variety of vocational programs are designed to provide employability skills to differently-abled students. These programs include tailoring, accounting, clay modelling, art, music and others.

We organise field trips and excursions to enable inclusive development and build the self confidence in the students.

All the training products are available for sale directly through the school, or at special fetes and exhibitions. The students often manage these stalls and product sales, allowing for experiential learning opportunities.
