President

Nupur Banerjee

A teacher by profession, Nupur Banerjee retired from one of the leading schools in the city - South Point School. Sensitive to the challenges of teaching and helping special students discover their true abilities, Nupur has been one of the Founder Members of Garia Sathi.

Her 40 years of experience in the field of education proves invaluable to the institute today, specially in shaping regular curriculum, designing special skills development programs, counselling for parents and more.

Vice President

Sujay Guha

A marine engineer by profession, Sujay Guha has served as an engineer on board ships with renowned Indian and overseas shipping companies. Because of his dedication to the shipping industry, he has held a number of managerial positions in shipping companies in Hong Kong and China. Even today, Sujay continues to provide need-based expertise to various shipping companies.
His experience and dedication have helped Garia Sathi to sail through many a troubled waters.

Secretary

Debaprasad Chakraborty

A well-known consultant with Life Corporation of India, Debaprasad Chakraborty has been the visionary behind Garia Sathi. Being a father to a special girl, Debaprasad understood the daily struggles and challenges of bringing up a differently abled child – and wanted to support parents and children facing similar dilemmas. Thus, formed Garia Sathi – a friend who listens, teaches, helps, and understands.

As one of the founders, Debaprasad has played an instrumental role in the growth and expansion of Garia Sathi – bringing his personal expertise and practical knowledge to direct the ongoing initiatives of the institute.

Indrajit Das

Indrajit Das, a LIC Advisor by profession, has been associated with Garia Sathi since its inception.

A committed social worker, he has been lending his expertise to various noble causes. He is a passionate sportsperson and an active member of Alekhine Chess Academy, Kolkata.

Sumitra Ganguly

With an Honours in Mass Communication in International Relations, Sumitra Ganguly could have aspired for the plush corporate sector – but her passion and desire to enable the challenged lead her towards her true calling. She joined Garia Sathi as a special educator for Autistic children in 2005 and has never looked back.

Soft-spoken and caring, she is able to effortlessly connect with differently abled children and help them in their journey of self-discovery. Her empathetic approach helps her immensely in counselling and guiding parents as well.
